Roman Catholic Diocese of Valparaíso

The Diocese of Valparaíso (Latin: Vallis Dioecesis Paradisi, Spanish: diócesis de Valparaíso ) is a diocese located in Chile of the Roman Catholic Church based in Valparaíso.

History

The Diocese of Valparaíso was born on November 2, 1872 by Pope Pius IX. out of territory of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile as a mission sui juris Valparaíso built. On October 18, 1925, the mission was sui juris Valparaíso by Pope Pius XI. charged with the Papal Bull Apostolici muneris ratio to the diocese. The diocese is the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile, is a suffragan.
