Romania Davis Cup team

The Romanian Davis Cup team is the national team of Romania Tennis. The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, similar to the Fed Cup for the women.

History

1922 Romania took part in the first Davis Cup. A total of three times was the team in the final of the Cup: 1969, 1971 and 1972 in all three finals but they lost to the U.S. team.. Thus, Romania, along with India and Argentina are the only team with more than one finals who have never won the title. By far the most successful Romanian Ilie Năstase player, who won 109 games in 18 years in 52 games, including 74 in singles and 35 in doubles.
