Romeo file system

Romeo is the name of a file system for CD -ROMs.

It was developed by Adaptec, together with the burning software Easy- CD Pro as an extension of the specification for CD -ROM file systems according to ISO 9660 for Windows 9x, ME, NT and 2000. It is technically in competition with Joliet. There are 128 characters for file and directory names possible, but no Unicode characters. Romeo is not backward-compatible with ISO 9660th implementations off the Windows operating systems do not exist. When used in DOS file names are truncated to eight characters, which may cause the ambiguity of the file names if they match in the first eight characters.

Adaptec developed Romeo no further; it is designated as obsolete.
