Romeo Records

Romeo Records was an American record label of the 1920s.

History

Romeo Records was founded in 1926 as a sublabel of Cameo Records, for the sole plates for the department store chain SH To produce Kress & Co.. With 25 U.S. cents per plate, it was one of the so-called "low-budget labels". The early symptoms under Cameo all wore a distinctive brown label. The material consisted mainly of Masters by Cameo and were therefore merely republished.

1931 Romeo was taken over by the American Record Corporation ( ARC), which also includes cameo belonged. ARC changed the appearance of the plates in 1931 in a black and 1935 finally in blue. Under ARC, new recordings have now been released, which were launched at the same time but also from sister companies such as Regal Records Banner Records, Oriole Records and Conqueror Records. In 1938, after the acquisition of ARC by the Columbia Broadcasting System, Romeo was adjusted.
