Romolo Marcellini

Romolo Marcellini ( born October 6, 1910 in Montecosaro, † June 3, 1999 in Civitanova Marche ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Marcellini completed a degree in economics and worked as a journalist. In 1934 he wrote his first screenplay; after working for documentary films, which led him to Africa, he was in 1937 working as an assistant director for Gallones Scipione l' Africano and shot a few scenes, the battle scene itself his documentary film La grande Olimpiade about the 1960 Olympics in Rome in 1961 nominated for an Oscar. In addition to his films, which often hid documentary elements, he was active into old age as a short film director.
