Romulo Cincinato

Rómulo Cincinato (* 1502 () in Florence; ? † 1593 in Madrid) was an Italian Renaissance painter of the Mannerist, who worked in Spain.

Cincinato was a supporter of the Florentine Francesco Salviati, and was brought in 1557 by Luis de Zúñiga y Requesens, at the time of the Spanish ambassador to the Holy See, to the Spanish court of Philip II. In Spain, he worked for the Crown at the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Roman Catholic Church and 1578-1580 for the influential Castilian Adelfsfamilie de Mendoza.

His two sons, Diego Rómulo Cincinato and Francisco, were also painters. Diego painted, among others Fernando Afán de Ribera, the third Duke of Alcalá.
