Romulus of Fiesole

Romulus of Fiesole was a Christian deacon in Fiesole. Its exact lifetime is unknown and his life story is to reconstruct little more reliably by later legendary overmolding.

The Passio of Romulus comes from the 11th or 12th century. They reported that Romulus as its namesake, the founders of Rome, had been brought up by wolves. He was then self- determined first of Peter as Bishop of Sutri and Nepi and later of Fiesole and got saved in Bergamo, Brescia and other cities many people to Christianity. Finally, he had suffered in common with a number of companions, martyred under Emperor Domitian. The first written record that exists on Romulus, however, is an inscription, which emerged only in the 5th or 6th century Peters Basilica of Fiesole and the only speaks of that Romulus had worked as a deacon and lector in Fiesole. It is possible that Romulus actually lived only in late antiquity and the connection to Peter, is a later invention to provide the highest possible age to the Christian community of Fiesole.
