Ron Duguay

Ron Duguay ( born July 6, 1957 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who in his active years from 1973 to 1996 among others for the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings has played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Ron Duguay began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the Sudbury Wolves, for which he was active from 1973 to 1977 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association. Then the attacker was drafted by both the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, as well as from the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association. Finally, he decided to take the offer of the New York Rangers, for whom he played from 1977 to 1983 a total of six years in the NHL. He was then released along with Eddie Mio and Eddie Johnstone in exchange for Willie Huber, Mark Osborne and Mike Blaisdell to the Detroit Red Wings. This left the right shooter after three seasons at the end of the 1985/86 season, to join their league rival Pittsburgh Penguins. For him, Doug Shedden came to Detroit.

In Pittsburgh, Duguay played less than a year before he returned on January 21, 1987 Chris account to the New York Rangers. There, too, he played only one season long, and then with the Los Angeles Kings as well. For the 1989/90 season the former youth international has been committed by the Mannheimer ERC from the Hockey League. After two years with the San Diego Gulls of the International Hockey League, he finished his career temporarily, before he returned to the same team in the West Coast Hockey League in 1995. With this he won in the 1995/96 season the Taylor Cup. After this success the Canadians ran only sporadically for some teams. In addition, he packed on the occasion of the Heroes of Hockey Game, which took place as part of the NHL All- Star Games, in 2001 once the skates.

As head coach Duguay supervised 2002-2006 the Jacksonville Barracudas. This changed several times within a few years the league and played in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, World Hockey Association 2 and Southern Professional Hockey League. With the Barracudas, the former NHL player won the 2004 Championship of the WHA2. Following the 2005/ 06 season, he resigned his office. During the 2008/ 09 season Duguay returned again as an active player on the ice back and completed one game for the Brooklyn Aces and Jersey Rockhoppers of the Eastern Professional Hockey League, to support a non-profit organization. He was in the game for the Brooklyn Aces one assist and finished the game for the Jersey Rockhoppers point and impunity.

Internationally

For Canada Duguay took part in the World Youth Championship 1977, where he took second place with his team.
