Ron Hewitt

Ronald "Ron" Hewitt ( born June 21, 1928 in Flint, † 23 September 2001) was a Welsh football player. Although only in unterklassigen English football as a player, he was employed as the Welsh national team in the squad for the World Cup 1958.

Biography

Hewitt was initially at the Wolverhampton Wanderers under contract, but under coach Stan Cullis he did not come in the First Division for use. In the meantime, he was in 1949 awarded to the Walsall FC in the Third Division. Even after his return without bet he moved in 1950 to Darlington FC, which he left after one season in the direction of Wrexham AFC. In the Third Division North, he established himself as a regular force and shone as a regular goalscorer. By 1957, he was active for the club and won the title three times the scorer of the league. He drew attention to himself at Cardiff City in the Second Division second-rate. Again, he was an excellent scorer and in his two years at the club each best simplistic internal contactors. His Torgefahr escaped not the Football Association of Wales, and in 1958 he made his debut in the national team. In the same year he was part of the squad at the World Cup tournament in Sweden and stood at the side of John Charles, Ivor Allchurch, Cliff Jones, Roy Vernon, respectively Terry Medwin in two group matches and the quarter-final match against Brazil in the forward line on the field.

1959 Hewitt returned back to the AFC Wrexham, however, remained this time only one season. As a result, he often joined the club. First, he ran on for Coventry City and Chester City before he kicked the football ball in Non -League. There he was active for Hereford United, Northwich Victoria and Witton Albion. In 1966 he joined the Welsh club Caernarfon Town, but after one season he returned to the English Non -League football back and ended after one year at Barmouth & Dyffryn United in 1971 his career at Congleton Town.

Hewitt worked at BICC Cables in Wrexham. In the fall of 2001, he died at the age of 73 years.
