Ron Stam (2008)

Ron ( " Ronnie " ) Theodorus Stam ( born June 18, 1984 in Breda ) is a Dutch football player. Since the summer of 2013, the midfielder is the Belgian first division club Standard Liege under contract.

Career

Stam has played between 1992 and 1997 in the young field of NAC Breda, before he moved to the youth department of Feyenoord Rotterdam for five years. In 2002 he returned again to play another year for the junior teams. Subsequently, he was included in the senior squad of the club. Back in 2002 /03 he made his league debut in the Eredivisie. The following year he then managed the breakthrough. Year after year came Stam on regular missions. In summer 2008, the season had already begun, recruited him from league rival Twente Enschede. The midfielder managed to prevail, and came in his first year with Twente on 24 appearances. At the end of season one was Dutch runners-up and moved into the final of the KNVB Cup, which was lost to SC Heerenveen. The following year, Stam was final regular at Twente. With 33 appearances he had behind Sander Boschker the second- most on the team. At the end of the 2009/10 season the team won the first Dutch championship in club history. In the summer of 2010 he signed a three -year contract with Wigan Athletic. After the relegation 2012/13 season, in which he could win the FA Cup with Wigan, but also from the Premier League, he moved to the Belgian first division club Standard Liege.
