Roque Antonio Adames Rodríguez

Roque Antonio Adames Rodríguez ( born November 8, 1928 in Janico, Dominican Republic, † October 31, 2009 in Santiago de los Caballeros ) was bishop of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Life

Roque Adames Rodríguez studied theology and philosophy at the diocesan seminary. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he received his doctorate. At the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, he completed further studies. In 1954 he was ordained priest.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him to the 1966 bishop of Santiago de los Caballeros. He received his episcopal consecration on May 22, 1966, the Archbishop and later Cardinal, Octavio Antonio Beras Rojas; Co-consecrators were the bishops Hugo Eduardo Polanco Brito and Juan Félix pepen y Soliman.

1992 to his retirement request was granted by Pope John Paul II.

He was the founder in 1967 of the " Sierra plan" for the conservation and wise use of natural resources. In 1976 he founded the weekly newspaper " Camino " (path ).

He was rector of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra ( PUCMM ) and professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo ( UASD ).
