History

The first documentary mention of the place was made in 1162 by a letter of Pope Alexander III. to the adjacent Augustinian Monastery in Nicholas Berg, in which he, inter alia, confirmed the monastery having four hooves country in Roringe. Church of St. Martin

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Martin in Roringen was first documented in 1254. Patrons were then the Dukes of Brunswick, today it is the city of Göttingen. The original flat-roofed nave was constructed in the 19th century with a wooden barrel ceiling.
