Rosenbärbling (Danio roseus)

The Rosenbärbling or Rose Schillerbärbling (Danio roseus ) is a small carp fish in the northern basin of the Mekong River in northern Thailand ( provinces of Nong Khai and Chiang Rai ), is found in tributaries of the Chindwin River in northern Laos and northern Myanmar.

Features

The Rosenbärbling has an elongated, but not quite as slim body like the other species of the genus, reaching a maximum length of 4.7 cm. Of all the other Danio species can be distinguished by the following combination of features: a pair of long barbels and the absence of horizontal stripes on the sides of the body. The Rosenbärbling resembles in particular the Schillerbärbling (Danio albolineatus ), which has two dark horizontal stripes at the rear sides of the body and longer barbels has. Do not submit to the Schillerbärbling to the rear edge of the eye, the Rosenbärbling. On the sides of the body Rosenbärbling has 28 vertical scale rows, the Schillerbärbling 29 to 30

In the pelvic fins and the anal fin to show himself at Rosenbärbling pink stripes. The upper and lower edges of the tail are white. The lateral line is incomplete and extends over nine to ten scales. A Seitenlinienauswuchs above the eyes is missing.

Habitat

The Rosenbärbling comes in relatively cold, oxygen-rich, fast-flowing streams and small rivers found in rainforests and sometimes stays in the vicinity of waterfalls and rapids. A single proof is also from the Mekong itself
