Roseline de Villeneuve

The Holy Roseline (* 1263, † January 17, 1329 ) was the eldest daughter of Count Arnaud de Villeneuve and Sybille ( de Burg Olle ) de Sabran. Her brother was the Grand Master of the Knights, Helion de Villeneuve.

She was born at Château d' Arcs. According to legend, her father had forbidden her to give to the poor, begging in front of the castle, food. When they had collected bread in her apron and tried to sneak out in the dark, she was caught by her father. When he asked what they drag out there, she fibbed: the roses that she had just picked. When she opened her apron, roses were in it instead of bread.

My aunt Jeanne de Villeneuve was prioress of the monastery Celle- Roubaud in Les Arcs. Roseline wanted to like this, Carthusian nun. In 1278 their first novitiate began at Saint -André -de- Ramières in Provence. 1280 she finished her novitiate at the monastery Bertaud (between the river Drac and Durance ) as a sixteen year old.

In 1285, she returned to Celle- Roubaud and was asked her aunt to the side. After her death in 1300 she became Prioress of Celle- Roubaud. My friend, the Bishop of Fréjus was in 1316 Pope John XXII.

Shortly after her death, miracles should be done. When five years later, her grave was opened on 11 June 1334 they found the body including the eyes intact.

In 1851, she was by Pope Pius IX. beatified.
