Rosette (zoology)

A rosette is the defining element in the biology of some fur patterns, such as the leopard or jaguar. It consists of an approximately circular configuration of brownish-black spots, the center is slightly darker than the skin color. On such a fur lined many of these rosettes are placed side by side.
