Ross Brawn

Ross Brawn OBE ( born November 23, 1954 in Manchester, England) is a British engineer and motorsports manager. He was team principal of Formula 1 racing team of the German car manufacturer Mercedes- Benz, Mercedes Grand Prix, which takes part in the 2010 season in the World Championship and succeeded the team Brawn GP. There Brawn had previously been team leader and namesake won the 2009 and surprisingly the drivers 'and constructors' world championship with the end of 2008 from the former Honda Racing F1 team previous team.

Brawn was involved until the end of 2009 a total of 115 at significant Grand Prix victories and also was responsible for the profit of eight drivers 'and constructors' world championship titles. He became known to a wide audience in Germany especially by its involvement in almost all the success of Michael Schumacher in Formula 1, where his name was often associated with strategic decisions in interaction with Schumacher's driving skills were ultimately decisive for victory. Career

In the early 1970s Brawn was a trainee engineer of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority at Harwell, Oxfordshire, where he studied metrology. His Formula 1 career began in 1976 when he was working on a milling machine in March. Soon after, he joined the Formula 3 team as a mechanic.

Brawn was set in 1978 by Frank Williams as a technician in his Williams team. Soon after, he rose to the aerodynamics on the team 's own wind tunnel.

Further stations were the design studio FORCE, which designed the Formula 1 cars for the American team Haas (1985 and 1986 ), the Arrows team and since 1989 the sports car team of Jaguar. There he constructed the world champion cars of 1991.

During the year, he moved back into the Formula 1 Benetton. There he was involved as technical director instrumental in the Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher's titles in the 1994 and 1995 seasons and also won the Constructors' World Championship of Benetton in 1995.

Ross Brawn was followed by Michael Schumacher Ferrari to the end of 1996 - a year after Schumacher had left the Benetton team as world champion. Brawn built the team technically new, and thus allowed the winning run from 1999 to 2004, when Ferrari six times in a row constructors ' world champion Michael Schumacher and 2000-2004 five times in a row drivers' world champion.

One of his greatest tactical achievements at Ferrari might have been 2004, the drafting of the race strategy at the French Grand Prix at Magny Cours, in which he has helped despite a hitherto practiced four- stop strategy to a win Michael Schumacher. In March 2009, the UK based Honda GP Holdings Ltd, which had been managing all activities of the Formula 1 teams sold all shares of Brawn, who in " Brawn GP Formula One Team " renamed the team. Brawn held on to the previous drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

In the first race in Melbourne scored a double victory and Jenson Button won six of the first seven races of the year for themselves and finally the drivers' world championship. On 16 November 2009 it was announced that Brawn sold a total of 75.1 % of its shares in Mercedes-Benz and Aabar Investment. In the Formula 1 2010 season he was team manager for the new Mercedes GP team and held a stake of 24.9% in the team. This proportion sold Brawn at the beginning of the 2011 season also to Mercedes. However, he continued to team boss.

He left the team after the 2013 season.
