Rotary car dumper

As centrifugal tipper, rotation skipper or Wagon Tilt is a discharge device for railway freight cars such as hopper car or Loren, respectively.

Description

During the discharge process, the unloaded car are held on the rails and tilted along with the track to the side. This eliminates the need emptying on doors or means of grippers, as well as the attachment of a chute to the car. A result, the car can be designed lower so that the focus at the same loading is lower.

In order to allow a discharge without prior separation of the freight cars, the car can be equipped with rotary couplers, as this is applied for example in the Erzbahnen in Pilbara and at coal trains from North American railroads. The end of the car with the rotary coupling is especially designed so that there is for the railway staff easy to see whether the train for the discharge without disconnecting the train is properly coupled. Thus, the function can be used must be coupled with an unmarked end up getting a labeled end.
