Round ligament of uterus

The ligamentum teres uteri ( "round uterus band ") is a part of the attachment apparatus of the uterus (womb), parametrium. It traverses the inguinal canal ( inguinal canal ) on its way from tube angle of the uterus to the labia majora. In animals, it has no relationship with the labia, but ends on the inguinal or in bitches in the processus vaginalis. Embryonic created the ligamentum teres uteri as a remnant of the lower ( rear in animals ) gonads bands.

The ligamentum teres uteri is accompanied by an artery supplying the tape, the artery of the ligamentum teretis uteri. Of clinical importance, it is in that tumor cells can spread about this band from the uterus to the labia majora.

In gynecology, the band is often referred to as the ligamentum rotundum ( Romanization of the term "round uterus band ").
