Round Rock is a city in Williamson County, Texas near Austin.

According to the census in 2005 Round Rock has a population of 86 316. In Round Rock is the headquarters of Dell, as well as a manufacturing facility of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation.

History

In 1851, a small community on the banks of Brushy Creek was founded. Near the church was a large round rock, called Round Rock, which was located in the middle part of the lake. This rock marked a convenient, low water crossing for wagons, horses and cattle.

The first postmaster called this community Brushy Creek. 1854, the small settlement was renamed in honor of the now famous Rock in Round Rock.
