Royal Economic Society

The Royal Economic Society (RES ) is a professional organization of British economists with over 3300 members worldwide.

Its objectives are the promotion of economics at the universities as well as in the political, economic and public sector. Membership is open to all interested parties.

It was founded in 1890 as a British Economic Association with the goal of promoting economic studies and the publication of a magazine. On the initiative of working for the company from 1892 to 1906 Secretary Henry Higgs, she received the sum earmarked for facilities of public interest privilege of the Royal Charter, making the name change to Royal Economic Society was possible in December 1902.

Its founders included Inglis Palgrave, Herbert Foxwell and Alfred Marshall. Former presidents among others, John Maynard Keynes, William Beveridge, Lionel Robbins, James Meade, Nicholas Kaldor and Richard Stone.

The published her journal The Economic Journal has been published since 1891 and is one of the most prestigious economic journals.
