Royal Hunt

Royal Hunt is a band from Denmark, whose musical style borrows from progressive metal and melodic rock. It was founded by keyboardist Andre Andersen in 1988 under the name " Apart" and renamed " Royal Hunt" in 1989. In addition to Andersen as the only remaining founding member are currently musicians from four countries ( Denmark, Russia, Sweden, USA ) in the band. Royal Hunt has sold over a million albums worldwide.

Name

The name " Royal Hunt" is derived from a painting that looked André Andersen in a museum.

Band History

André Andersen and bassist Steen Morgensen founded the band in 1988. Andersen, a classical pianist, wanted his two main influences, the classical and the rock, incorporate into his music. In their early days they played as the opening act for renowned groups such as Talisman or saga. With the drummer Kenneth Olsen and singer Henrick Brockmann, the band began in 1993 on her first album called "Land of Broken Hearts " work. At this time, the band had no guitarist. The album then Jacob Kjær was used, which then also permanently joined the band a year later.

Brockmann left the band in December 1994 after the release of "Clown in the Mirror" and was monitored by TLC Cooper replaced. In this formation they toured for the first time by the United States, as the opening act of Warrant. After the third studio album called " Moving Target " was released. The title " Far Away", which was dedicated to the victims of the earthquake in Kobe, reached the number 1 position of the Japanese charts. During the tour of Europe, where they played in the opening act of the Swiss band Gotthard, Olsen was diagnosed with pneumonia. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with tinnitus. The band needed a replacement, and so Allen Sørensen joined the band. Within 36 hours, he flew to Switzerland, and was rehearsing with the group on stage.

In the meantime, were " Royal Hunt" so popular in Japan that the Japanese Wrestling Association asked the band to record music for their campaign events. This happened with the three titles " Champions Of Wrestling", "Wake Up" and " Masahiro Chono ". The fourth album " Paradox" was published in 1997. This is a concept album. After then changed the label and was new to Steamhammer under contract, was " Paradox" re-released with a bonus live CD.

In 1998, the band decided that it was time to take a break. At this time we also came to the conclusion that it would be best if you no longer would now cooperate with Cooper. Published with drummer Allan Tschicaja " Royal Hunt" her sixth studio album " Eye Witness " in 2003. Late then guitarist Jacob Kjær and bassist Steen Morgensen left the band.
