Royal Institute of Thailand

The Royal Institute of Thailand ( Thai: ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน, RTGS: Ratcha bandittaya Sathan, pronunciation: [ râ ː ʰ tt͡ɕ áʔ bandìttàʔjáʔ sàʔt ʰ ă ː n] ) is an Academy of Sciences of the Thai government.

Foundation

The Royal Institute of Thailand was founded on 31 March 1933 adopted by the Thai House of Representatives Law on the Royal Institute. Behind this was the desire to create after the political upheaval of 1932 ( end of absolute monarchy ) in Thailand have its own setup, come together in the Thai experts from all academic fields of knowledge to get in exchange with each other and with western scientists to the target, a build from the west independent, own Thai academic landscape of research and teaching, can be passed through the knowledge of the people and pupils and students in the country.

The Royal Institute should replace the King Prajadhipok (Rama VII ) was founded on April 19, 1926 Royal Council ( ราช บ ณ ฑิ ต ย สภา ). The Royal Institute staff have been completely re- fitted in the foundation, while the members of the now defunct Royal Council were transferred to the newly established Fine Arts Department.

Fields of work

Various committees of the Royal Institute, about 44-50 in number, develop technical terminology, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a local directory and run language planning. Furthermore, the Royal Institute for the translation and publication of several nonfiction provides.
