Royal Thai Naval Academy

The Royal Thai Naval Academy ( Thai: โรงเรียน นาย เรือ, RTGS: Rongrian Nairuea, pronunciation: [ ro ː ŋrian na ː jrɯa ]; English Royal Thai Naval Academy, RTNA ) is the naval academy, which trains the officers of the Royal Thai Navy.

Location

Since 1952, the Thai Naval Academy is located in the town of Samut Prakan at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River into the Gulf of Thailand, Tambon Paknam.

History

The Thai Naval Academy was founded in 1898 by King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) and officially opened on 20 November 1906. First, the royal yacht Maha Chakri and some other boats were used as a school room. Later, the Academy moved into the Wangdoem Palace in Thonburi, which is now the headquarters of the Thai navy. Subsequently, the academy was to Sattahip, Chonburi province laid before it came to its present location in 1952.

Tasks

The academy offers bachelor's degree programs ( " undergraduate " ) in natural sciences and engineering at. In addition, the students ( cadets ) undergo regular Marine training, leading a career as an officer in the Royal Thai Navy after successful completion.

Courses of Study

The following courses can be assigned:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Engineering in the Navy
  • Hydrographic
  • Management science

Upon successful completion of the cadets are taken as lieutenant in the Royal Thai Navy. As the officers of other arms they receive their ceremonial swords personally handed over by the King.
