Ruben Liljefors

Ruben Mattias Liljefors ( born September 30, 1871 in Uppsala, † March 4, 1936 ) was a Swedish composer and conductor.

Liljefors studied until 1895 in Uppsala at Ivar Eggert Hedenblad and then to 1899 in Leipzig with Salomon Jadassohn. Later he attended the Conservatory of Music in Stockholm. He completed his training with Felix Draeseke, Max Reger and Hermann Ludwig Kutzschbach. From 1902 to 1911 he was choirmaster and conductor of the Philharmonic Society in Gothenburg. After that, he was from 1912 to 1931 conductor of the orchestra in the country Gävle.

He composed a symphony, a concert and a festival overture, an orchestral suite, a piano concerto and a violin sonata. One of his most famous pieces is När det lider mot jul.

His brother was the Swedish animal painter Bruno Liljefors ( 1860-1939 ).
