Rudolf Bommer

Rudolf " Rudi " Bommer ( born August 19, 1957 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German former football player and current football coach.

Career

He played from 1976 to 1996 in 417 games in the Bundesliga Fortuna Dusseldorf, Bayer Uerdingen and Eintracht Frankfurt. This Bommer scored 54 hits. In the German national team midfielder in 1984 was six times and was active in the squad at the European Football Championship 1984 in France. Bommer has played to 2000 active several times as a player coach.

On 26 October 2000 Rudi Bommer became coach of the then third division Wacker Burghausen. He led the team in 2002 for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and secured there twice in the league. He then moved in 2004 to the Bundesliga relegation TSV 1860 Munich, where he was dismissed for a disappointing performance of the team on 15 December 2004. From 31 August 2005, Bommer Coach of 1.FC Saarbrücken in the 2nd Bundesliga and formed from a highly insecure and uncoordinated Saarbrücken team a unit that he could lead out of the relegation zone in the meantime. On May 3, 2006 after a 0-4 against Kickers Offenbach Bommer was on leave as head coach in Saarbrücken. A role in the dismissal, however, also played a rumor about a change Bommers for MSV Duisburg.

On 8 May 2006, he began his coaching positions at the former Bundesliga relegation MSV Duisburg. In the 2006/07 season he reached the third place in the table and led the team back to the Bundesliga. There, however, the club rose by return again. After a weak start to the season in the 2nd Bundesliga and partly dramatic criticism from the trailer Rudi Bommer was dismissed from his post on November 9, 2008.

After some time without commitment as a coach Bommer was re- introduced as manager of Wacker Burghausen 2011/12 season. He should help the club in the long term to stabilize in the third league.

Bommer released his contract on Wacker Burghausen the end of 2011 and signed with FC Energie Cottbus a contract from 1 January 2012 to 30 June 2013, which was extended in October 2012 to the end of season 2014. He was released after four games without a win on November 5, 2013.
