In February 1953 he also won the FIS competition in Garmisch. In the Four Hills Tournament 1953/54, his best result was a 15th place again, this time on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf. However, he lacked when jumping in Garmisch, which is why he did not come in the overall standings. For the Nordic World Ski Championships 1954 in Falun, Sweden, he could not qualify within the Austrian team. Based on his professional duties Dietrich found less and less time for the sport, which is why he ended his career at the age of 25 years after the 1954/55 season. In the following years he still operated motorcycle racing and won some mountain races.
