Rudolf Kolisch
Rudolf Kolisch ( born July 20, 1896 in gorge, Lower Austria, † August 1, 1978 in Watertown, Massachusetts) was an Austrian-American violinist.
Life
Rudolf Kolisch studied violin with Otakar Ševčík and composition with Franz Schreker and Arnold Schoenberg. It was 1924, the brother of Schoenberg. During the Second World War Kolisch lived in America.
Its importance lay in the interpretation of the new music of the 20th century by the which he founded Kolisch Quartet (formerly Vienna String Quartet ). Kolisch favored the tempered tuning with the interpretations of the quartet.
His honorary devoted grave is on Grinzing Cemetery ( Group 6, Series 6, No. 9) in Vienna.
