Rudolf Rupec

Rudolf RUPEC, ( born November 17, 1896 in Grubišno Polje, Austria - Hungary, † July 3, 1983 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia ) was a football player and later a football coach who played for the national teams of Austria and Yugoslavia.

Career in Austria

RUPEC Rudolf moved with his parents in 1911 from his native Croatia to Vienna, where he first played in the junior team of SK Rapid Wien. His first try in the first team he had in the season 1913/14, and immediately he managed to score against Vienna. For a regular player in the Halves series he rose in the season 1915/16, which could end the Hütteldorfer also with the title. In the following season the Green-Whites were successful. After a second place still followed by two more league titles and a Cup victory.

1917 debuted RUPEC in the Austrian national team in a 1-1 draw with Hungary. Over the next year and a half nine more missions in the national team as well as two other meetings should follow in the Vienna city selection. In the course of 1919 RUPEC lost his place at Rapid to Leopold Nitsch, its number of championship operations decreased continuously, even in the national team, he was no longer in demand.

Career in Yugoslavia

In 1920, he decided to accept an offer from his homeland and moved to HŠK Građanski to Zagreb. In the same year the newly formed Yugoslav Football Association denied as part of the Summer Olympic Games his first international match against Czechoslovakia, which was also attended RUPEC, but after 13 minutes due to an injury had to leave the field. The game ended in a 0-7 debacle. With Građanski he scored two league titles in 1923 and 1926, RUPEC was a mainstay of the team and was considered the first professional players of Yugoslavia.

Also in the national team, he was more than a fixed size and the Yugoslavs in 1924 participated again at the Summer Olympics, also RUPEC was there again. But this time the tournament was quickly over after a 0-7 in the opening game against the eventual Olympic champion Uruguay. After he finished his career in the national team for which he nine times was used, in addition, he was called nine times in the city of Zagreb selection. In Građanski he remained active until 1928.

After the end of his active career RUPEC also worked as a coach and led the Hask Zagreb in 1938 to its first Yugoslav championship title.
