Rudolph Chimelli

Rudolph Maximilian Chimelli (* 1928 in Munich) is a German journalist and author.

Chimelli initially studied law and economics. In 1964 he went as a correspondent to Beirut, where he reported for eight years on the Arab world. In 1972 he moved to Moscow and was from 1979 to 1998 in Paris correspondent of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He is also regarded as an expert on Iran.

For his reporting, he published repeatedly in book form, he has won several awards. 1986 saw him, the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers to the Theodor Wolff Prize. In 1992 he was awarded the Joseph- Roth- price. 2007, the Federal Cross of Merit 1st class, he was awarded.
