Rugged Iceland ( Argentine name: Isla Rugosa, old names are Lloyds Iceland or Ragged Iceland ) is an uninhabited island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands in Antarctica. It was already Christmas 1819 discovered by British sealers Joseph Herring, who went in the northeast of the island on Hersilia Cove on land and the island for King George III. took possession.

Geography

Rugged Iceland is located in New Plymouth Bay, about three kilometers off the southwest coast of Iceland Livingston, the second largest island of the archipelago. From Snow Iceland both are separated by the Morton Strait. Rugged Iceland is about 6 km long, up to 2 km wide and 10.4 km ². The island is not glaciated.
