Rui Silva

Rui Silva ( born August 3, 1977 in Santarém ) is a Portuguese middle and long distance runners.

The European Athletics Championships 1998 in Budapest, he won his first international medal ( silver on its special route 1,500 m), at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he failed, however, in the flow. In 2001, he won the title at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and was seventh at the World Championships in Edmonton, and in 2002 he won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Munich. At the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis he finished fifth.

In the 2004 Olympics he also came to the bronze medal, behind Hicham El Guerrouj (MAR ) and Bernard Lagat (KEN ). Also a bronze medal there for him at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
