Rummy with laying (German Rummy )

General

Rummy is played with two packs of French playing cards to 52 cards and three jokers, for a total of 110 cards from two to six people. Each player plays for himself, there is no partnerships.

The aim of the game is to arrange his hand to figures and interpreted ( to report ). The player who can interpret all the cards first wins the game.

Preparations

Before the start of the first game, the cards are shuffled and placed face down arc. Each player draws a card; the player with the highest card chooses his place and is the first donor or divider. The other players sit according to the ranking of the cards dealt to the left of the dealer.

Giving then changes after each game clockwise. The dealer shuffles the cards and then pull it off again after his right-hand neighbor.

In many cases, the rule is that a player when he finds a Joker when you lift, keep this ( rob, not to be confused with the replacement of a joker ) may.

The cards are placed face individually given in a clockwise direction, each player is dealt thirteen cards, the dealer takes himself fourteen.

The remaining cards are placed face down as a shock ( Talon ) in the middle of the table.

The figures

Figures are combinations of at least three cards:

  • Sets of three or four equal- cards in different colors, such as ♥ K ♦ K ♣ - K ♠ or 3 - 3 ♥ - ♦ 3 - 3 ♣,
  • Followed by ( rows of sequences) of three or more successive cards of the same color; such as ♥ A ♥ 2 - ♥ 3 ♦ 8 - 9 ♦ - ♦ 10 - ♦ ♣ B or D ♣ K ♣ - A ♠ K ♠ but not A- 2 ♠

Figures can also be formed with the help of jokers, a Joker can replace any other card; for example ♣ ♣ B- D-J ♣ A ♠ or 6 - 6 ♥ -J.

It is not permitted to interpret a figure with only one natural card and two jokers; but may in a sequence consisting of at least four cards, two jokers immediately follow each other, so, for example, 3 ♠ J ♠ J- 6 is an acceptable combination.

The card values

  • The court cards King, Queen and Jack count ten points,
  • The record cards two to ten count according to their eyes,
  • However, the ace counts in the block or in a sequence after the king, and in the final invoice eleven points, the initial notification in the sequence A -2-3 only one point.
  • A joker is one of the initial notification, as many points as the card that it replaces; in the final bill include a Joker twenty points.

The encoder is the first player on the train. He must now report figures, provided it meets the requirement for the initial report, and finished his train, by disclosure of a card in addition to the shock ( stores ). Then the player is to his left turn.

Each player starts following his game by

  • Either by his predecessor openly stored map
  • Or the top face down card from the talon

Receives ( buys ). After that, a player may report cards and ends his train, by discarding one card face up on the discard pile.

In this case, it is one for achieving the required 40 - Sometimes people play that a player only then may commence the top card of the discard pile if he interprets them immediately in a message, it is that he used the card for his initial report was points (see below) with - be it that he uses in a later message.

The initial report

For the first time laying out the total reported cards have a value of at least 40 points (but see variants ) have.

More News

If a player has designed his initial report, he may, if he is on the course at any time interpret other figures; However, the points value is no longer just the initial notification of concern in subsequent messages.

Application to already designed figures

If a player has designed his initial report, he may, if he is on the course at any time create additional single cards already designed figures; it does not matter whether the designed figure from the concerned player himself or one of his opponents was reported.

Example: On the table lies ♥ 2 - 3 ♥ - ♥ 4 A player holding A ♥ and ♥ 5 in hand, he can create these two cards to the designed sequence.

Once reported cards may no longer be withdrawn or deposited in the hand.

Replacing a joker

If a figure with Joker on the table, for example, 6 ♠ - ♥ 6 -J, and holds a player that card in hand, which is replaced by the Joker, in this case the ♣ 6 ♦ or 6, he may Joker Replace by this card. The Joker must immediately be interpreted in a new message again and must not be included in the separate sheet. Replacing a joker is allowed only after delivery of the initial notice.

The rules of the German skat federation are stricter on this point: According to this rule, a joker may only be exchanged in a sentence when the sentence is completed with four cards of the same rank.

Gambling

The player who first can lay all of his cards and his last card - a sign of the end game - hidden stores on the discard pile, wins the game. All the other players received so many negative points as they still hold to the eyes in his hand.

Hand - rummy

Variants

The rules of the game with laying vary from round to round, unlike other card games including Bridge, Canasta or Skat Regulations do not exist.

However, there is the German Skatverband a department which deals with Rummy and 2007 for the first time discharges a rummy Olympics in Germany. There is played according to the official rummy rules of the German Skatverbands.

The above given rules (see bibliography) can therefore be strengthened in its sole discretion, or weakened. Frequent deviations concern inter alia,

  • The number of jokers used
  • Required for the initial report score (sometimes just 30, 35 or even more than 40, for example, 42)
  • The counting and uses of the Asses (sometimes generally ten or eleven points, and also in the sequence KA -2)

These questions should be clarified before the start of a match, therefore.

Robber Rummy

Predator- Rummy is a special version of the game with laying out, from this variety Rummikub has emerged. When robbers rummy designed messages must not only expanded, but it may the cards contained in the messages also be re thoroughly combined.

Examples

  • On the table is 5 ♣ - ♣ 6 - 7 ♣ - ♣ 8 - ♣ 9; a player holds the second ♣ 7 in hand. He is now 5 and the ♣ 6 ♣ take from the table and cover it with his ♣ 7 in a new message.
  • On the table are 5 ♦ - ♦ 6 - ♦ 7 ♠ and 5 - 6 ♠ -J; the player holds ♣ 5 ♥ 6 ♦ and 9 in hand. He can now combine these maps together with the place cards new and ♦ 5 - 5 ♠ - ♣ 5 ♦ 6 - 6 ♥ - ♠ 6 ♦ and interpret 7 -J ♦ 9.

It should be noted that this booklet for Joker can find new uses, without having been initially exchanged in the true sense.

Otherwise, all rules of the game apply with laying, predator- Rummy is also played without discard pile.

Rummy without laying (Wiener Rummy )

General

In contrast to the rummy with laying out trying these game types to arrange his cards in his hand to figures and ( to call Rummy ) either interpret all cards at once or tap, that is, all cards up to a residual of low value reported.

Just like the game with laying out there for the Rummy without laying out uniform rules for this: Rather under different names more often nearly identical varieties are known: Wiener Rummy, 101 Rummy, Rummy elimination, Knock Rummy, etc. The second, but very special variant for two people is Gin Rummy.

The reproduced in the following rules are therefore to be considered as binding in the sense such as those of chess. Unless otherwise specified, mutatis mutandis, the rules of the game apply with laying out, such as in reference to the figures, evaluating the cards, etc.

Rummy without laying is played with two packs of French playing cards to 52 cards and only ever a joker, making a total of 106 cards from two to six people. Each player is dealt ten cards, the dealer takes himself eleven.

The players are now trying, as when playing with laying out, by buying and discarding cards to improve their hand.

End of the game

A game continues until one player calls Rummy, that is, ten cards in messages interprets and stores its eleventh card. Then put all the other players from their characters and include - as the Gin Rummy - the eyes sum of their bad cards, ie those cards that can not be accommodated in figures.

A game can also be ended by knocking: If a player has only five points or less in bad cards, he can knock. He shall then, as with a rummy reputation his hand open, and applies its negative points. The other players do the same, but in contrast to a rummy reputation they may, in the case of knocking another try by buying and dropping a card to improve their hand. An application to characters of other players is not permitted.

Game

Rummy is without laying A., played by games; a game is made up of several individual games. Before starting a game each player pays a bet of five chips in the box office ( pot or bottle ).

After each game, the beater or rummy caller receives from all the rest is still in the game participants, the so-called knock money that is paid out a chip. Furthermore, the negative points obtained in this game are recorded and constantly added for each player.

Once a player has 101 or more penalty points has collected, he is ruled out; all are excreted up on a player, the remaining player wins the pot and the game is over.

If a player has already 81 or more, but not 101 penalty points accumulated, so he may buy back against payment of an additional use of five chips in the pot and reduce its number of bad points to the number of the second-worst still in the game participant. The right to repurchase is each player during the game but only once.

Games of the Rummy Family

As already mentioned, there are many rule variations and rummy games. Here, therefore, is only a selection of the most popular called, with no claim to completeness: Some games have several names, some names are again not unique, but can be used for more than one variety.
