Rundata

Samnordisk runtextdatabas (German: Total Nordic runic -text database ) is a program begun by the University of Uppsala in 1993 database to create a complete machine-readable catalog of runic inscriptions with the target. In the current version from the year 2008 about 6500 inscriptions are included.

The database and the associated client Rundata are available for different operating systems free on the Internet.

Construction

Each entry of the database containing the text format, Auffindungsort, a translation into Swedish and English as well as data on the rune stone itself. The blocks are identified by a code of up to three parts.

The first part describes the origin of the inscription. When stones found within Sweden this is an abbreviation for the Landskap. Outside Sweden contained stones are identified by a code not ISO 3166 compliant.
