Running on Empty is the fifth album by American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne. It was released in 1977 on Asylum Records.

General

This album is not purely a live album, but it also contains recordings that were made during the tour in hotel rooms, on the tour bus or backstage. Unlike live albums usual contains " Running on Empty " only songs that have never been published. Of these songs Browne wrote but only two even four together with a co- author and four are cover versions.

The album reached # 3 on the Billboard Top 200 and remained there 65 weeks. The single from the " Running on Empty " reached number 11, the second single from the album "The Load-Out/Stay " No. 20 on the Billboard singles chart. Although some critics the album less appreciated than the preceding, was running on empty most commercially successful work to date. In 1979, the album was nominated for a Grammy.
