Career

In the 1954 season he was on NSU thus far the only Austrian road world champion in the 125cc class and vice-world champion in the 250 cc class. Likewise Hollaus became the first Austrian victory in the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man, also in 1954.

Rupert Hollaus suffered a similar fate as sixteen years later Jochen Rindt. He had an accident as already fixed world champion 125 cc class during practice for the Grand Prix of Nations in Monza, Italy fatal.
