Russ Hamilton (singer)

Russ Hamilton ( born January 19, 1932 in Everton, Liverpool, † October 11, 2008 in Buckley, Flintshire, Wales; actually Ronald Hulme ) was a British songwriter and singer.

Biography

Russ Hamilton grew up in Liverpool and worked as a salesman and later as " Redcoat " (a kind entertainer ) for the resort chain Butlins. With colleagues, he formed a skiffle group. Together with them, in 1957 he recorded the single We Will Make Love, which reached number 2 in the British charts promptly. The single was also released in the U.S., where the B-side Rainbow reached a # 4 on the Billboard charts. He was the first star from the UK, was able to record success on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK, it was awarded a gold disc.

Nevertheless surprised by the sudden success, he remained faithful to Butlins and tried both activities to join. The follow-up single Wedding Ring reached the Top 20 of the UK singles chart. More singles in the UK failed, however. In 1960 he signed for the United States signed a contract with the label MGM Records, but there could also post any further successes despite numerous singles. He toured there with the Rolling Stones and entered into the " Patti Page Show". Early 1960s had ended his music career, however.

In 1967 he joined again as a " Redcoat " and in 1986 he played We Will Make Love in the musical Grease at a performance in Chester.
