Russell Errett

Russell Errett ( born November 10, 1817 in New York City; † April 7, 1891 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1877 and 1883 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

About the youth and education of Russell Errett nothing is handed down. In 1829 he moved to Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, where he worked in the newspaper industry. In 1860 he became Comptroller in his new hometown. Between 1860 and 1861, and from 1872 to 1876 he was employed as a Clerk in the management of the Senate of Pennsylvania. During the Civil War he served as paymaster in the army of the Union. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. In 1867 he was a state senator in Pennsylvania; 1869-1873 he worked for the tax authority.

In the congressional elections of 1876 Errett in the 22nd electoral district of Pennsylvania was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat James Herron Hopkins on March 4, 1877. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1883 three legislative periods. Since 1881 he was there Chairman of the Committee on public properties. In 1882 he was not re-elected.

Between 1883 and 1887 Russell Errett worked as a pension agent for the federal pension administration in Pittsburgh. He died on 7 April 1891 in Carnegie.
