Russell McVinney

Russell Joseph McVinney ( born November 25, 1898 in Warren, Rhode Iceland, USA, † August 10, 1971 ) was Bishop of Providence.

Life

Russell Joseph McVinney received on 13 July 1924, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On May 29, 1948, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Providence. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Giovanni Cicognani Amleto, donated to him on 14 July of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Hartford, Henry Joseph O'Brien, and the Coadjutor Bishop of Fall River, James Louis Connolly.
