Russell Wong

Russell January Tak Wong ( born March 1, 1963 in Troy, New York, USA) is an American actor and photographer, and the brother of Michael Wong.

Biography

Wong was born the sixth of seven children in Troy. He is the part of his mother's Dutch- American as well as by his father of Chinese descent. Already when he was a baby, the family moved to Albany, where his father, William Wong, a restaurant operates. At the age of seven, his parents divorced, and he moved to California with his mother Connie Van Yserloo. After high school and college, he eked out a living as a photographer and dancer and performed at, among others, in music videos of David Bowie, Janet Jackson and Donna Summer.

At the age of 22 he got his first role in a Hong Kong musical. After his performance, he was still seen in some unimportant TV productions, but only with his guest role in the youth cult series 21 Jump Street - Tatort classroom (1989 ), he received much better deals. This was followed by the lead role in Wayne Wang's romantic comedy Eat a Bowl of Tea, as well as supporting roles in New Jack City and China Cry. His breakthrough finally managed Wong in 1994 with the presentation of a live end in exile political activist for the TV production Vanishing Son In Europe, he also managed to recognition, specifically for supporting roles in God's Army II - The Prophecy and Romeo Must Die.

He is married to the fashion designer Flora Cheong- leen since 2003 and has one daughter.
