Russia Davis Cup team

The Russian Davis Cup team is the national team of Russia tennis. The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, similar to the Fed Cup for the women.

History

Since 1993, Russia participates under the Russian flag at the Davis Cup. From 1962 to 1991, there was the crew of the Soviet Union, 1992, took it in part as a Commonwealth of Independent States. The team has so far denied five finals, two of which they also won. In 2002, the team won against France 3-2, 2006 repeated to the success with a renewed 3-2 against Argentina. Because of these successes, Russia stood in the meantime at the top of the ITF rankings. The most successful player is Aleksandre Metreweli, who won a total of 80 games in 14 years.
