The Russian - Armenian ( Slavonic ) State University, also briefly RAU (Russian Российско - армянский ( славянский ) государственный университет; Armenian Հայ - ռուսական ( սլավոնական ) համալսարան ) is a Russian -speaking university in the Armenian capital Yerevan.

History

The founding of the University began in 1997 on the initiative of Russian and Armenian government, it still stands today under the control of both governments. 1999 were finally able to enroll the first students. In 2005, the university was finally accredited by the Russian Ministry of Education. The number of courses offered has increased steadily since its founding. Since 2009, a school with the name " Usmunk " is connected to the University, which is characterized by a particularly intensive Russian lessons.
