Rusty Nail (cocktail)

The Rusty Nail (English for Rusty Nail ) is an alcoholic cocktail of Scotch ( Scotch whiskey ) and Drambuie, a liqueur whiskey base with honey and herbs. He belongs to the short drinks.

Whisky and Drambuie are doing, usually served, if in a 2:1 ratio in a small tumbler and stirred cold with some ice cubes and on the rocks. As garnish a twist of lemon peel can be used.

Despite its purely Scottish ingredients of the cocktail is an invention of the United States, where he became popular in the 1950s. The unusual name of the cocktail is presumably due to its rust-colored stain. However, a modern legend says that the name comes from the use of rusty nails in the preparation. Scottish bartender had to take revenge on boorish American customers, rusty nails used for stirring.

The manufacturer of Drambuie applied his drink 1989/1990 in journals with the following anecdote: in 1799 the Scottish brothers Rusty and Dusty Nail be advised in severe strife, whom the invention of a new beverage from Scotch and Drambuie was due. The dispute escalated and ended in a gun duel, which survived only one of the brothers.
