Ruta Sepetys

Ruta Šepetys ( * 1967 in Detroit, Michigan ) is an American author. Her debut Between Shades of Gray (2011, dt And in me invincible summer, 2011) was enthusiastically received by the press and as a " superlative first novel" (New York Times), " tremendous " (The Guardian) and "eye- opening reimagination of a very real tragedy written with grace and heart " (LA Times) celebrated.

Life and work

Ruta Šepetys was born in Michigan and has two older siblings. On the Hillsdale College, she studied International Finance and made with a Bachelor of Science graduate. Her debut novel Between Shades of Gray (2011) is inspired by Šepetys ' father, who fled as a child from Lithuania. The rights of the book were sold in 42 countries.

Her second novel, Out of the Easy ( 2013) set in New Orleans. The rights of Out of the Easy have already been sold in 13 countries. Today Šepetys Ruta lives with her family in Nashville.
