Properties

Rutheniumhexafluorid is a dark brown crystalline solid which melts at 54 ° C. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system (measured at -140 ° C) in the space group Pnma with the lattice parameters a = 931.3 pm, b = 848.4 pm and c = 491.0 pm and four formula units per unit cell with a calculated density of 3.68 g · cm -3. The RuF6 molecule is octahedral ( Oh); the Ru -F bond length is 181.8 pm.
