Ruusmae ( historical German name Rogosinsky; Estonian official name until April 1, 1939 Rogosi ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Haanja ( Haanja vald ) in the Estonian Võru County. It is 28 kilometers from the city of Võru.

Location and description

The village in the extreme south-east of the country has 46 inhabitants ( 2006). The Jaanimäe Park of Ruusmae is mainly known for its oak trees. It is close to the Ruusmae Lake is ( Ruusmae järv or Rogosi järv ) with an area of 3.9 hectares.

Good Rogosi

The Good Rogosi probably originated in the 16th century, when the parish was part of the Polish kingdom Rauge in Livonia. The manor was first mentioned in documents in 1591. His name leaned against the then owner, Prince Stanisław Rogoziński ( owner 1603-1625 ).
