Ryan Day
Ryan Day ( born March 23, 1980 in Bridgend ) is a Welsh snooker player.
Career
Day made his professional debut in 1999. He won the 2001 B & H Snooker Championship in Mansfield, which earned him a wildcard for the Masters. There, Day was able to defeat in the first round, Dave Harold, but it failed to Stephen Hendry. Reaching the second round at the Regal Welsh in 2001 was his greatest success so far in a traditional tournament.
2003 Day was athletic clearly reflected by liver problems. 2004 but he qualified for the first time for the Snooker World Championship, where he lost in the first round John Higgins 7:10.
At the 2006 World Cup, he went through his Erstrundenerfolg against Joe Perry attention to himself, which he clearly defeated with 10:3. In the subsequent second round he lost just under the former world number one Ronnie O'Sullivan.
His biggest success was Ryan Day at the Malta Cup in 2007 by reaching the final, in which he, however, Shaun Murphy defeated with 4:9. Only a few months later he was at the Shanghai Masters again in the final, but lost there again, this time against his Welsh compatriot Dominic Dale, where he gave eight frames for a 6-2 lead in a row and eventually lost with 6:10. The end of the 2007/08 season was also quite successful: At the China Open, he was eliminated in the semifinals and only at the 08 World Cup, he reached the quarterfinals. He collected as many world ranking points that he then for the first time was one of the best eight players in the world.
Although Ryan Day was the final of the Grand Prix 2008 by John Higgins ( 7:9 ) beaten, but he made it through the achievement of this final for the first time in the provisional ranking at # 3 climb. After four reached the finale on the main tour but it still lacks the first title.
In 2008, he was the Austrian Snooker Open win, but not part of the Snooker Main Tour are. In the world ranking he lost after his sixth place in the season 2009/10 a lot of ground.

Ryan's younger brother Rhys Day is a football player. He played for Mansfield Town and Manchester City and was captain of the Welsh Under-21 team. He is currently at Oxford United.
