S-21: The Khmer Rouge Killing Machine

S -21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine (French: S -21, la machine de mort Khmère rouge ) is a documentary by Rithy Panh from the year 2003.

Like many other films of the documentary filmmaker turns S21 - The Khmer Rouge Death Machine to the reign of terror of the Khmer Rouge under Pol Pot in Cambodia. In the documentation of the torture prison Tuol Sleng (S -21) in Phnom Penh are former victims of only twelve survivors, including the painter Vann Nath and Chum Mey, and their tormentors for an exploration of Cambodia's recent history at the former site of the incident together confronted.

Awards

The documentation has been presented at various film festivals and has received numerous awards, including the Best Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival, the FIBRESCI Prize at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films or the Prix François Chalais at the International Film Festival of Cannes 2003.
