Sa Kaeo Province

Sa Kaeo ( in Thai สระแก้ว ) is a province ( Changwat ) in the east of Thailand, but it is counted administratively to Central Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Sa Kaeo.

Geography

Sa Kaeo is located on the border with Cambodia. To the north lie the forested mountains of the Dangrek Mountains, the South is rather hilly and deforested.

History

The province was established in 1993 and originated from the Amphoe Sa Kaeo and Amphoe Wang Nam Yen Province Prachinburi. It was, therefore, Amnat Charoen and together with Nong Bua Lamphu, until the creation of the province of Bueng Kan 2011, the three youngest provinces of the country.

Sa Kaeo is the home province of Sanoh Thienthong, a since the 1970s, active at the national level and influential politicians.
