Saar Klein

Saar Klein ( born 1967 in Israel) is an American editor.

Life

Saar Klein was born in Israel and moved at the age of 10 years with his family to New York. He made his 1989 bachelor's degree in psychology at Vassar College. Then he cut industrial films in New York. Since Klein's mother was friends with the mother of the cutter Joe Hutshing, Saar Klein was given the opportunity in 1991 at the intersection of JFK Hutshing - Tatort Dallas, a political thriller directed by Oliver Stone to assist. Then moved completely to the small Los Angeles, where he devoted himself to his film career, and in 1995 with the TV movie PCH proven its first autonomous film editing.

When he in 1998, worked on, produced by Terrence Malick Endurance, a sports film about the Ethiopian distance runner Haile Gebrselassie on film editing, just turned Malick The Thin Red Line in Australia. He wrote a letter with his ideas about the cut of the film to Malick and was invited by his wife to meet Malick personally. After Malick was impressed by Klein's ideas, he hired him for the film section. With the film section Klein in 1999 was nominated for the first time for an Oscar in the category Best Editing. In 2001 he again received a nomination for the cut at Almost Famous - Almost Famous.
