Sabah State Legislative Assembly

Dewan Negeri Undangan Sabah or Sabah State Legislative Assembly ( German: Legislative Assembly of Sabah ) is the legislative branch in the Malaysian state of Sabah. It is unicameral, which is composed of 60 deputies.

The Legislative Assembly whose members are identified as state assemblymen ( German: Members of the state ) are called, meets in the Chamber of Deputies in Likas, a suburb of Kota Kinabalu. The majority of the 60 seats held by the Barisan Nasional coalition party (BN ). After the elections of 5 May 2013, the Legislative Assembly was in its 12th legislative session and the coalition of the BN had 48 seats, Parti Keadilan Rakyat, the (PKR ) seven seats, the Democratic Action Party (DAP ) four seats and the State Reform Party held a seat.

History

The first election to the Legislative Assembly of Sabah took place in 1967. The meeting was held from 1967 to 1980 in the old parliament building on the hill Bukit Istana Lama, where today the Sabah Museum has its place. In the years 1980-1995 the 7th floor of the Sabah Foundation Building housed the meeting. As of July 1995, a new parliament building was built on a 38 acre site in the Likas district. The cost was around 30 million EUR.

The prefix ' P' denotes the election districts for the total Malaysian parliamentary elections. Due to the likes practiced change of electoral districts and circuits before an election is the following overview map may in the future no longer applicable.

According to the state constitution, see the elections to the Parliament of the State every 5 years. These are simultaneously held with the elections to the Malaysian Parliament. On April 3, 2013 sparked the Chief Minister of Sabah, Musa Aman, to the Legislative Assembly. The elections were held on 5 May 2013.
